Everyone has the right to a safe work environment. At all of our construction sites, we follow the instructions and regulations concerning occupational safety and health. Read more.
Everyone working on our sites is always inducted to our operating practices. This applies to YIT personnel, subcontractors, and independent workers alike.
YIT’s electronic pre-orientation must be completed before arriving at the site and is valid for 12 months at a time. Its validity is checked on-site.
We want to prevent any and all accidents. To get to this goal, we need to build on a shared sense of responsibility, adherence to safe working practices, and actively identifying and addressing potential shortcomings while looking out for one another.
Everyone has the right and obligation to receive orientation for their work. Well-prepared and properly implemented orientation provides sufficient basic knowledge of the task, readiness for safe work, and helps prevent personal injury, property damage, and environmental harm.
Before arriving on site, everyone working at a YIT construction site in Finland must complete YIT’s electronic pre-orientation. Once on site, our orientation continues with a site-specific induction, a task-specific safety plan, and a site tour. Our goal is to ensure a safe and smooth start and to strengthen our shared operating culture.
Our partners are responsible for ensuring and supervising that all their employees have a valid Valtti card, and that they have completed the pre-orientation before arriving at the site.
During orientation, we’ll also verify that the worker has the right to work in Finland. Identity and, if necessary, residence permits will be checked. The right to work in Finland is granted either by EU/EEA citizenship or by a residence permit issued by Finnish authorities that includes all the relevant rights to work.
Upon arrival, workers must also have a valid Occupational Safety Card (issued by the Finnish Centre for Occupational Safety, TTK). Each employer is responsible for ensuring their personnel’s qualifications.
All necessary certificates must be presented upon arrival.
The purpose of the pre-orientation is to ensure that all YIT employees, subcontractors, and partners have a safe and smooth start at our construction sites and offices and understand how to operate in accordance with laws and YIT’s policies and rules.
YIT’s own personnel and subcontractors working at YIT construction sites complete the pre-site induction before arriving on site.
